Becoming an Annual Member is a great way to show your support for your community and for the Model Railroad Museum of Hampton Roads. This will entitle you to

• Free admission for one full year
• Unlimited exhibit gallery viewing and photography during regular Museum operating hours. (Not valid for special fund-raising events)
• 10% off in our Gift Shop including online purchases for one year.
• Discounted rates on future special events
• Monthly Newsletter, "Making Tracks", that will keep you updated on special offers, events and discounts.
• Your membership fee is fully tax deductible.

Annual Membership Levels

There are four different levels of Annual Membership:

1. Individual Annual Membership (Fireman) - Valid for 1 adult and 1 child for one year.

2. Household Membership (YardMaster) - Valid for 2 adults and up to 4 children for one year - Our most popular membership!

$125.00

3. Contributing Membership (Dispatcher) - Valid for up to 3 adults and 4 children for one year.

$160.00

4. Student Membership (Apprentice) - Valid for 1 student (age 15 +) ONLY with proof of current student ID - Must be purchased at the museum

Lifetime Membership
(Conductor)

$1500 - Only one payment required. No additional annual fees. Valid for one individual for lifetime. May be accompanied by up to six guests.

This membership includes:

• Free admission for life.
• Unlimited exhibit gallery viewing and photography during regular Museum operating hours. 
• 15% off in our Gift Shop including online purchases
• Monthly Newsletter, "Making Tracks", that will keep you updated on special offers, events and discounts.
• Access to Library
• Unlimited attendance to clinics and classes.
• Free attendance to special events
• Your membership fee is fully tax deductible, less the value of 6 free guest passes included in the initial membership purchase. The fair market value of each guest pass is $13.50. We recommend checking with your professional tax advisor before calculating tax deductions on individual and/or corporate tax returns.

As a totally non-profit 501(c)3 organization, we really need the support of the community to make this work. Our largest expense is leasing or purchasing a building large enough to accommodate the Museum. Based on our best financial analysis, if we can raise $250,000 within the next few months, we could be open by the end of this year in time to celebrate the Holidays! Please consider the fun and family entertainment of having a Museum like this in our community, not to mention the educational benefits. With all the difficulties we all face in the world every day, we need fun things to do. We owe it to ourselves to develop these opportunities especially for our children, who will remember these experiences forever. 

Supporting Patron Membership

Become a supporting Patron, if you wish, with ongoing monthly donations that will entitle you to extra benefits and discounts. Once your total donations reach $1500, you receive a Lifetime Membership.

These donations are 100% tax deductible and will be used for building and construction of layouts and for expenses related to the maintenance, lease, and operation of the museum. There are no administrative costs since we are all volunteers. Click on the link below to learn more...

The Model Railroad Museum of Hampton Roads will be a fantastic community center based on running, operating and even building your own model railroads! There's something for every age here.

Learn about the real history of this area and how important it was in the building of America. Watch how railroads were built, the people involved, where America's roots were formed. 

As they build their own railroads, students will be learning about science, electronics,  architecture, technology, engineering, mathematics, and the art of 3 dimensional model landscaping. They can earn rewards for completing projects and winning contests.

Try to solve yardmaster problems on a switching layout like getting the lumber from the forest to the furniture store, by way of the saw mill and the lumber yard.

Run your train around blockades and other trains to get to the station on time without speeding or crashing.

Play railroad monopoly using model railroads. Winner is the one who can collect the most cars into his yard within an hour.

There will be programs for autistic and special needs kids, disabled adults and veterans.

School tours. Holiday Shows. Library and video rooms. Scouts are welcome. Even youngsters will have their own wooden models to enjoy. Classrooms and hands-on clinics for adults. Learn how to get started in the hobby. Or just enjoy the fun.
